Barbara Merk was born in Augsburg Germany, but now she lives and paints in Pietrasanta, Versilia, Italy.

Since she began her studies she showed a distinct quality in her art work and teaching.After her career as a teacher, the artist began again to express herself through painting and sculpture.During her creative journey she has continued to improve her technique year after year. She has been participating in various personal and general exhibitions in Germany, Italy and the USA and has earned a remarkable public success.

Often armed with an easel, Barbara is looking for the composition that will immortalize on the canvas the emotion that is the proof of herself. The artist paints with a strong and clear expression from the soul. As if painting with a canvas of warm colors and emotion. She portrays men and women naked and intimate. They are absorbed in their own thoughts. Both the carefree and the intense passion of humanity can be seen in her work.The spirit of the painting is feminine, light and adaptable but also intense and passionate. Her painting is a search of style, impression, analysis and atmosphere. All of these feelings are found in her work. While painting she explores her emotions and recognizes them deeply. She works between the rational and the imaginary.
